BLOCK PARTY NIGHT
The McKenzie Police Department is hosting a National Night Out block party at the city square on August 7 at 6 p.m. This is a national event hosted in part by the National Association of Town Watch. The National Night Out 2018, America’s Night Out Against Crime is one of the nation’s largest annual crime and drug prevention events. The event is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in anti-crime programs and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community relations. Come join us for fun and food.

MCKENZIE DOG PARK CELEBRATION
A celebration for the future McKenzie Dog Park is August 8 at 2 p.m. on Como Road at the walking trail parking lot. The Randy Boyd Foundation is awarding McKenzie a $25,000 Dog Park Dash check for a dog park. You and your favorite dog are invited (leashed dogs only) to join the celebration. Treats for both dogs and their humans will be served.
FAMILY DANCE AT DRESDEN AMERICAN LEGION
American Legion Post 94, 8288 Highway 22, Dresden will host a family dance (no alcohol) every Friday from 7-10 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Entry is $6 per person.
Carroll County Humane Society will host Bingo on Friday, August 17 from 6-9 p.m. at the Carroll Bank and Trust Community Building in Huntingdon. 50 cent cards, $100 gift card for grand prize (last game of the night); concessions available for purchase. All proceeds go to CCHS.
CCHS AT HUNTINGDON HEALTH AND REHAB
The Carroll County Humane Society will be at Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, August 9 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Animals from the shelter will visit the residents and will also be available for adoption. All animals have been vaccinated, dewormed and spayed or neutered. The adoption fee is $100 for dogs and $60 for cats. On the same day from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., the Sugar Booger Cupcake Truck will be on site to sell cupcakes and fried fruit burritos. Cupcakes are $2; burritos are $2.25.
BENEFIT FOR STACEY, ERNIE SMOTHERS
A benefit event for Stacey Smothers and her husband Ernie is Saturday, August 11 from 4-8 p.m. at the Carroll County Civic Center in Huntingdon. Stacey suffered a serious illness in September of last year and is in the midst of a long recovery. The event will feature food, live entertainment, a silent auction and a live auction. Revival at Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church is Sunday-Friday, August 5-10. Service begins at 6 p.m. Sunday, then 7 p.m. nightly Monday-Friday. Guests speakers are Michael Hilliard, Tony Boyd and Larry Hollingsworth. Melissa Hampton will play piano.
The Ellis-Beasley reunion is Saturday, August 11 at New Valley Venue (previously New Valley Church), located at 189 New Valley Road, between the new Highway 22 and Old Highway 22, Gleason. CCHS LOW-COST CAT SPAY, NEUTER VOUCHERS
The Carroll County Humane Society provides low-cost cat spay/ neuter vouchers for $35.00. Come by the shelter 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Saturdays. Call Paris Vet Clinic and set up your appointment. Take your cats in one morning and they come home the same day! That’s all there is to it.
Here’s all the information you need about these vouchers: Your city of residence or income doesn’t matter—anybody can buy these vouchers. You can buy as many as you need. All vouchers must be used at Paris Vet Clinic. Vouchers expire one month from purchase. You can use these for your cat or the neighborhood stray. You can buy the vouchers for others to use for their cats. This is an ongoing program. Cats just need to weigh two pounds, which is usually at around eight weeks of age.

Liberty United Methodist Church Revival is Sunday-Wednesday, August 12-15 at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be Bro. James Smith. An add-a-dish meal is Sunday at 6 p.m. Also, the Carroll County Choir will sing Sunday. Rev. Melinda Clarke and the congregation invite everyone to come join them for worship and fellowship. The church is located three miles east of McKenzie on Highway 423 in the Macedonia community.

GLEASON SADDLE CLUB ‘SADDLE UP FOR ST. JUDE’
The Gleason Saddle Club, 513 East Union Street, Gleason, will host the Saddle Up for St. Jude Horse Show on Saturday, September 15 at 7 p.m. Registration begins at 4 p.m.
The event will include Children, Youth, and Adult judged and speed classes with some fun classes thrown in the mix for laughs. Anyone can get involved through volunteering to request friends and relatives for donations or through corporate sponsorships.
Gleason Saddle Club is raffling, until the day of the show, a gas grill and a corn hole set at 3 tickets for $10. On the day of the show, a large metal cross will be raffled to some lucky winner. Barbecue plates will be sold the day of the horse show for $8 per plate.
All of the money raised from these activities goes to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
