McKenzie Father, Son Killed in Kentucky Crash
McCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (August 2) — A father and son from McKenzie were both killed in a two-vehicle accident in Kentucky in the early morning hours of Thursday.
Kevin Hudgins, 43, and his father, Sammy Hudgins, 64, both of McKenzie, were each pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a press release issued by McCracken County Sheriff’s Deputy Dwayne Pickett, deputies were dispatched at 6:33 a.m. to the intersection of KY 286 and KY 726/McKendree Church Road, approximately ten miles southwest of Paducah.
Upon arrival, the investigation indicated that a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu had been northbound on KY 726, failed to stop at the intersection and entered the path of a 2016 Chevrolet Canyon eastbound on KY 286. The Canyon struck the driver’s side of the Malibu, causing it to spin off of the roadway and overturn.
Kevin Hudgins was driving the Malibu with his father as a passenger.
The driver of the Canyon, Todd Hess, 54, of Kevil, Kentucky, was transported to Baptist Health Paducah with incapacitating injuries.
KY 286 was closed for approximately five hours for investigation and cleanup.
Funeral services are Wednesday at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan.
