Accident Claims Life of Van Ramsey

Van Ramsey sustained trauma to the head while shoeing a mule on May 7. He was able to drive himself to the McKenzie hospital and after being treated for facial lacerations, he was discharged to go home that night. On May 8, he was resting at home and appeared to be recovering. However his condition suddenly reversed that evening, and around 8 p.m., he told his wife that “I’m going” and shortly after, he died on the sofa next to his wife.

She said he never complained of pain. Ramsey was previously a member of the McKenzie School Board and McKenzie Industrial Board. He owned Southern Star Lumber Company in McKenzie.
