On the February 9 agenda of the Gleason City Board of Mayor and Alderman, the board will open the discussion of beer sales within the city limits. Newly appointed alderman, Keith Radford, asked for beer sales to be added to the agenda on February 6. Currently, Gleason does not allow alcohol sales within the city limits. Radford will be sworn in at the beginning of Thursday’s meeting. In other business, the board will hear second readings of the Bulk Pickup Ordinance and the rezoning of 160 Smyth Lane. The first reading of the Court Cost Ordinance will be heard. This establishes a flat rate on court costs.
Also on the agenda, Alderman Doug Johnson asked to reopen talks about the closure of the lagoon area for public dumping. During the January 12 meeting, the lagoon area was closed effective immediately to the public. Johnson was the sole dissenting vote.
The Gleason City Board meetings are scheduled for the secondary Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at Gleason City Hall.
