MARLBORO (September 7) — According to Carroll County Fire Department Chief Terry Bradshaw, at approximately 3:20 p.m., a maroon-colored, late model Ford van driven by a juvenile struck a 2007 Honda VTL motorcycle driven by Lee Blakely near Blakely’s residence located at 25310 Highway 114 North near the community of Vale.
Bradshaw said that the juvenile was traveling northbound on Highway 114 when he turned around in Blakely’s driveway and preceded southbound on Highway 114 as Blakely negotiated a curve while traveling northbound on Highway 114. When the vehicles met, the juvenile driver’s vehicle struck the mirror of Blakely’s motorcycle as Blakely was slowing to turn right into his driveway, causing the motorcycle and driver to strike the pavement and skid to a stop where Blakely remained until being attended by Baptist Memorial Hospital-Huntingdon Emergency Medical Service staff.
Responding quickly to the scene, members of Hollow Rock Volunteer Fire Department assisted in preparing Blakely for transport of non-life threatening injuries and removing the motorcycle from the roadway as Carroll County Sheriff ’s Department deputies secured the crash site and supervised traffic flow.
The juvenile driver was not injured.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Officer Shane Steele investigated the crash.
