Two Roads to Be Gated, Boat Slips Constructed at 1000-Acre Lake
BY JOEL WASHBURN
HUNTINGDON (November 28) — Two former county roads will be closed to the public following action by the Carroll County Watershed Authority on November 28.
Lakewood Capital Group received approval for the closure of the former Kyle Road on both the northwest and southwest sides of the lake. Kyle Road was submerged when the lake was flooded, leaving the roads to terminate at the water’s edge on the two sides of the road. Carroll County Highway Department relinquishes all maintenance responsibility to Lakewood Capital.
Lakewood Capital Group received approval to gate the deadend roads to enclose a private housing development. The deadend roads will provide the private development with private boat ramps. The Capital Group was also granted permission to construct two community docks – one on the east side and one on the west side of the lake – with each having five boat slips. The Authority granted the developers a payment plan of $10,000 down with an annual payment of $1,600 annually for 25 years for a total of $50,000.
Other docks to serve other residents can be constructed with the attendant permit and fee, said Dale Kelley, secretary of the Authority.
