Guitar Men II a Hit in McKenzie
McKENZIE (January 23) — The City of McKenzie presented “The History of Carroll County – Guitar Men II” on Tuesday evening at Park Theatre. Five musicians were honored for their years of success in entertainment, including Sammy Butler, Leslie Cooper, Dale Cooper, Don Page and Glyn Jones.
During the forum, the artists played memorable melodies and recounted interesting events regarding their music careers. Several of the crowd’s favorite selections included performances of “Mustang Sally,” “Keep Your Hands to Yourself” and the Dave Clark Five hit “Because.”
The forum was moderated by Chris Edlin, and the crowd interacted with musicians through a time of questions from the audience. A standing ovation was given to the artists at the conclusion of the final selection, “Under the Boardwalk.”
Soundmen honored for their years of service working with notable Carroll County musicians were Gaylon Biggs and Jonathan Chappell.
Williams Furniture sponsored the event, which served as a fundraiser for the newly- formed McKenzie Neighborhood Crime Watch Group.
