VFW Post 4939 Hosts Easter Egg Hunt

McKENZIE (March 31) — Hundreds of children were the invited guests of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4939, McKenzie for the annual Easter Egg Hunt, hosted by the local post.
VFW members, the Ladies’ Auxiliary, and many volunteers hid eggs, cooked hamburgers and hotdogs, made cotton candy, and made sure everyone was safe and had a good time at the new venue, McKenzie City Park.
Children enjoyed hunting the eggs and looking inside its plastic shell to see if there was an extra bonus. Children walked away from many, many plastic eggs filled with candy.
McKenzie Police Officer Frank McGee served as the starter for one age category of eager egg hunters. Children see Mr. Frank regularly as he directs traffic in the school zones.
VFW Post 4939 has created a tradition of community service by including the annual Easter egg hunt as one of the many annual events for children, along with its service to disabled veterans and active service members. Post members and the Auxiliary also host events to raise money to help families at Christmas.
