McKenzie Memorial Library News
BY JEAN ALEXANDER
School is almost out for the summer, and we have been busy preparing for our Summer Reading Program! This year’s theme is ‘Libraries Rock,’ and our programs will be during the month of June 2018. All events will be held at the Park Theatre in downtown McKenzie. The schedule is as follows: Thursday, June 7 at 10 a.m. — The McKenzie Police Department will put on a program of interest for all age groups. You won’t want to miss this.
Friday, June 15 at 10 a.m. — The Paris Landing State Park Birds, Snakes and Prey will be presenting and interesting event for all.
Wednesday, June 20 at 1 p.m. will be ‘Movie Day’ which is always alot of fun for all and admission is free.
Wednesday, June 27 at 1 p.m. — Scott Humston will be presenting the ‘Pro-Kids Show’. This show has been called “A musthave event” for every school age child in America. Through music, magic, stories and lots of laughs, kids and parents discover the importance of character.
If you would like to pre-register for the Summer Programs, you may call the Library at 731-352-5741. Northwest Headstart will be in attendance this year helping us with the programs. We will have sign-up cards the day of each event and we can even sign you up for a Library card. We have plenty of calendars to hand out so no one will miss out.
Our new computers for our Computer Classes should be here prior to the first of June so we can get started on our Basic Computer Classes for the next six months. There will be at least two classes a month from June through December 2018. We have a list of interested individuals already and we will be calling to schedule the dates and times. This has been a long awaited project that we are very happy to offer free of charge.
