McKenzie is Among Tennessee’s Safest Cities, According to SafeWise
McKenzie is listed as the eighteenth safest city in Tennessee, according to the SafeWise website.
During the July report for the year 2018, McKenzie was identified because of its low crime rate as reported by the FBI.
According to SafeWise, “To compile this report, SafeWise analysts reviewed the most recent 2016 FBI crime statistics and population data. Cities that fell below identified population thresholds or failed to submit a complete FBI crime report were excluded from the ranking system. Our evaluation is based on the number of reported violent crimes (aggravated assault, murder, rape and robbery) in each city per 1000 people. If there was a tie, we also factored in the number of property crimes (burglary, arson, larceny-theft, and car theft).”
McKenzie, population 5,294, had the following statistics: violent crimes per 1,000: 1.70; Property crimes per 1,000: 27.77; Total crimes: 6.12% violent and 93.88% property.
The 20 safest cities in Tennessee include: Belle Meade, Pleasant View, Signal Mountain, Oakland, Brentwood, Collegedale, Germantown, Erwin, Loudon, Hendersonville, Whiteville, Collierville, Tiptonville, Mount Juliet, Lenoir City, Nolensville, New Tazewell, McKenzie, Sparta, Church Hill.
