Shepherd’s Table to Host Dinner
HUNTINGDON — The Shepherd’s Table, the community kitchen created by the volunteers at the First Presbyterian Church, is having a cookout on Tuesday, June 19 at 19835 E. Main Street, Huntingdon. Dining begins promptly at 5:15 p.m., and the kitchen will be open until 6:45 p.m. Anyone hungry or seeking fellowship for a meal is invited.
Jason Vandiver, Chairman of The Shepherd’s Table Executive Committee, says they will be grilling hamburgers on the lawn in front of the church. Mary Lodge, a volunteer in the kitchen, said they will also serve taco salads, watermelon along with cookies and ice cream.
Everyone that attends The Shepherd’s Table is treated as a guest and served restaurant style. They also do the entire cleanup, as well. The guests are asked to simply enjoy the delicious meal compliments of the hard-working kitchen staff.
The mission of the community kitchen is to serve at least one person in need a hot meal. The community kitchen’s success is dependent upon guests, volunteers and donations.
