Mustangs Clifft, Pearson, Pearson On First Team

JACKSON (July 1) — In recognition of the Huntingdon Mustangs stellar season and TSSAA Class A baseball state tournament appearance, Ben Clifft and brothers Kade and Kelby Pearson were named to the Jackson Sun’s 2017 All-West Tennessee High School Baseball First Team.

Mustangs Zach Dodson, Elijah Wilkerson and Hunter Ensley earned All-West Tennessee High School Baseball Second Team honors.

First Team

Ben Clifft-A powerful presence in the batter’s box, Mustang outfielder Clifft capped his prep baseball career via a .429 batting average that included four home runs, six doubles, five triples and 45 RBI.

Kade Pearson-Mustang junior infielder Pearson posted a .441 batting average that included four doubles, 28 RBI and 43 total runs scored.

Kelby Pearson-not to be outdone by big brother, sophomore utility player Pearson posted a .440 batting average that included six doubles, 35 RBI and 29 total runs scored.

Second Team

Zach Dodson-a daunting pitcher and baserunner, Dodson concluded his prep career at Huntingdon via an 8-1 mound record that included 49 strikeouts and 2.15 ERA. Offensively, his .330 batting average included five doubles, 14 RBI and 14 stolen bases.

Elijah Wilkerson-In addition to possessing a strong throwing arm, Huntingdon’s junior catcher posted a .375 batting average that included eight doubles and 29 RBI.

Hunter Ensley-Huntingdon’s freshman pitching sensation posted a 7-2 record that included 65 strikeouts and 1.12 ERA. Producing at the plate, Ensley’s .348 batting average included 15 doubles, 31 RBI and 36 total runs scored.
