Washburn, Cherry, Fuller Earn First Team Honors
JACKSON (June 30) — Carroll County prep softball was well-represented as McKenzie pitcher Audrie Washburn, West Carroll outfielder Katelyn Cherry and Huntingdon outfielder Kaci Fuller were named to the Jackson Sun’s 2017 All-West Tennessee Softball First Team.
During her junior season, McKenzie High School pitcher Washburn hurled 171 strikeouts and tallied a .460 batting average including 12 home runs and 42 RBI.
A Christian Brothers College softball signee, Cherry’s 2017 campaign at West Carroll included a .529 batting average included five doubles, 10 RBI and a total of 30 runs scored.
During her freshman season at Huntingdon High School, Fuller’s offensive production included a .575 batting average, six triples, 10 RBI and 30 runs scored.
In addition to being named to the All-West Tennessee First Team squad, Fuller was selected to the TSSAA Class A State Softball First Team.
Carroll Countians receiving All-West Tennessee Second- Team honors included West Carroll’s Shelby Browning and Kaitlin Pigue and Huntingdon’s Cheyenne Childress and Alli Jones.
A formidable competitor, Lady War Eagle Browning’s sophomore campaign included a 10-8 mound record including a 1.80 ERA and 159 strikeouts. Offensively, she posted a .394 batting average with five doubles and 23 RBI.
West Carroll teammate Pigue concluded her prep softball career with a .485 batting average that included six doubles and 24 RBI.
A Blue Mountain College softball signee, Childress’ capped her final season at Huntingdon with a .462 batting average that included 17 doubles and 34 RBIs.
An incoming junior, Jones’ 2017 sophomore season with the Fillies included a .491 batting average with six home runs and 40 RBI.
