Huntingdon Swept by Greenfield

HUNTINGDON (January 2) — Huntingdon High School opened the new year by hosting Greenfield for a pair of hoops contests Tuesday. The Fillies fell behind early and the Lady Yellowjackets rolled to a 54-35 win, handing the Huntingdon girls their first loss of the season. The Mustangs led by a point after the first quarter, but the Yellowjackets cruised the rest of the way to an 80-57 victory.

Greenfield Lady Yellowjackets 54, Huntingdon Fillies 35

The Lady Yellowjackets opened up a solid 21-11 lead after the first frame, led by Tess Darby with nine points, including a threepointer. Chloe Moore had seven, also with a three, and Makayla Little scored five, including a three. Fillies Taylor Smith and Marisa Belew each scored four, Alli Jones had a pair, and Adyn Swenson hit a free throw.

Greenfield upped its lead with a 15-6 advantage in the second quarter. Little led with six on a pair of threes, and Bentley Gordon scored five, including a three. Darby and Moore each added a pair. Smith hit a three-pointer for Huntingdon, Belew added a pair, and Jones hit a freebie. At the half, the Lady Yellowjackets led, 36-17.

The Lady Yellowjackets had a 12-11 edge in the third, led by Darby and Moore, each with five points and each with a three. Little added a pair. Smith scored six for the Fillies, Jasmine Dupree hit a three, and Swenson had two points. Entering the final frame, Greenfield led, 48-28.

Huntingdon cut into the deficit slightly in the fourth, outscoring Greenfield 7-6. Smith had all seven points for the Fillies, including another three-pointer. Little, Darby and Moore each had a pair for the Lady Yellowjackets.

Huntingdon’s Taylor Smith led all scorers with 20, including a pair of three-pointers. Marisa Belew had six points.

Tess Darby led Greenfield with 18 points, including a pair of threes. Chloe Moore had 16, also with a pair of threes, and Makayla Little scored 15 points, including a trio of three-pointers.

Yellowjackets 80, Mustangs 57

Huntingdon took a 13-12 edge after the opening frame, led by Kaleel Bailey and Dallas Willis with four points each. Clay Pinson hit a three-pointer, and Jeremiah Pearson had two points. Levi Dees led Greenfield with eight, including a pair of threes. Joshua Floyd also hit a three, and Marcus Jones hit a free throw.

The Yellowjackets took over in the second quarter, outscoring the Mustangs 27-10. Dees led again with 13, including a trio of threepointers. Jackson Crouse scored nine, including a three, Floyd hit another three, and Kameron Shane scored two points. Bailey scored eight with a three-pointer for Huntingdon, and Willis added a pair. At the half, Greenfield led, 39-23.

Greenfield increased its lead with a 22-15 advantage in the third, led again by Dees with nine, including another three. Shane scored six, Floyd had four, and Crouse hit another three. Mustang Kade Pearson scored eight, including a pair of threes, J. Pearson had six points, and Willis hit a freebie. Heading into the final frame, the Yellowjacket lead was 61-38.

The fourth quarter was a 19-19 wash. Mustang Hunter Ledsinger led the scoring with six points on a pair of threes. Javon Pritchard also hit a three, and Willis and Davontae Harris each scored three points. K. Pearson and Nikolas Bynum each had two points. Yellowjacket Ross Northcutt scored five points, including a three-pointer. Dees and Jared Anderson each hit a three, and Shane, Peyton Cooper, Brandon Tuttle and Jacob Floyd each scored a pair.

Yellowjacket Levi Dees led all scorers with 33 points, including seven three-pointers. Jackson Crouse scored a dozen, including a pair of threes. Joshua Floyd and Kameron Shane each had ten, Floyd with a pair of threes.

Kaleel Bailey led Huntingdon with a dozen, including a three. Kade Pearson and Dallas Willis each scored ten, Pearson with a pair of threes.
