War Eagles Beat Tigers 8-3 at Home, 3-2 Away

ATWOOD/BRUCETON (April 2-3) — The West Carroll War Eagles faced the Central Tigers on back-to-back nights last week for a pair of wins. Monday, the War Eagles took a solid lead early en route to a 8-3 home win. Tuesday, they traveled for a back-and-forth rematch, coming out on top 3-2.
West Carroll War Eagles 8, Central Tigers 3
The War Eagles drove in four runs in the bottom of the first, then added another in the second. The Tigers cut into the deficit with three runs in the top of the fourth, but West Carroll plated one in the fifth and another two in the sixth to seal the win.
War Eagle Antonio Williams was 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Colton Johnson was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and a run scored. PJ Winberry was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a stolen base. Devin Nash was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Tiger Malik Mathes was 2-for-2 with a run scored. Brayden Frye was 0-for-2 with two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. Gage Lowry and Dalton Williams were each 1-for-3.
Carter Deer earned the complete- game win for West Carroll, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits while striking out nine and walking two.
Thomas Crews started for Central, allowing four unearned runs on a hit and a walk in one inning. Brayden Frye threw the last five innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits while striking out three and walking none.
War Eagles 3, Tigers 2
Central struck first with a run in the bottom of the first. West Carroll knotted it with a run in the third. Each team plated a run in the sixth for another tie. The War Eagles pushed across one in the top of the seventh before holding on for the win.
War Eagle Chase Holt was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Noah Brasher was 1-for-2 with two walks, a run scored and a stolen base. Colton Johnson was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Devin Nash was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. Carter Deer was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base.
Tiger Jacob Ervin was 3-for-4 with a triple. Zane Mebane was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Dalton Williams was 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Gage Lowry was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.
Colton Johnson earned the complete-game win for West Carroll, allowing two unearned runs on seven hits while striking out a dozen and walking none.
Jacob Ervin got the start for Central, allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out six and walking five in five and a third innings. Mac Hooten pitched the final inning and two-thirds, allowing one earned run on one hit while striking out three and walking two.
