Aird Speaks to Rotary About Tragedy, Recovery

Posted

McKENZIE — Misty Aird, head coach of the Bethel Ladies’ Soccer Team, spoke to the McKenzie Rotary Club about a tragic wreck on April 7, 2018 and her recovery after numerous surgeries.
The accident near Trenton claimed the lives of her two recently retired in-laws and critically injured her, the driver. Her daughter, Gracie, was uninjured.
Aird said she was rushed to a local hospital and airlifted to the trauma unit at The Med in Memphis. She was not expected to live and endured many surgeries and months of hospitalization and rehabilitation. She was certainly not expected to recover to the extent she has.

Aird said the accident and recovery increased her faith in Jesus and she well learned the compassion of the people of her adopted hometown of McKenzie. Her student-athletes supported her immensely immediately after the accident and during her recovery. The mother of three said her husband, Matt, supported her and stayed by her side and members of the community cared for her children during her hospitalization.
Her message is one of tragedy, spirituality, and recovery.
Misty was the guest of Rotarian Sandi Roditis. Pictured are Krista Martin, president of McKenzie Rotary, Misty Aird, and Sandi Roditis.
