McKENZIE, Tenn. - Funeral services for Carl C. Cooper are Sunday, July 9, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Brummitt McKenzie Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday noon until service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Union Academy Cemetery.

Mr. Cooper, 97, died Thursday, July 6, 2023 at his residence. He is a retired machinist for DuPont, a member of Union Academy Baptist Church and a Navy veteran. He was born in McKenzie on November 22, 1925 to Calvin and Pearl Lewis Cooper.

He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Alma McSwain Cooper of McKenzie, a daughter, Elaine (Michael) Burton of Germantown, a son, Rick (Phyllis Ann) Cooper of Bartlett, three grandchildren, Joshua (Meghan) Burton, Zachary (Sydney) Burton and Courtney (Brandon) Bradford and five great-grandchildren, Blake Bradford, Jamison Burton, Everly Burton, Wilder Burton and Oliver Burton.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Carl Cooper, his parents and his sisters, Mary Gurley, Nanny Dunning, Violet Galey, Bonnie Gore, and Annie Mae Cooper and brothers, Vernon Cooper, RJ Cooper, Lewis Cooper, Hulon Cooper and Dewey Cooper.
