Carroll County in Top Ten Highest Unemployment

NASHVILLE — The percentage of persons unemployed in the tri-counties has increased over the last month with Carroll County climbing into the top ten highest unemployed counties.
In Carroll County, the unemployment rate hit 4.6 percent in May, as compared to 3.9 in April. The rate is down from the 4.3 percent in May 2018. From a labor force of 12,250, 11,690 were employed and 560 were unemployed.
In Henry County, the unemployment rate increased to 3.6 percent, up from 3.4 one month earlier, and 3.7 one year earlier. From a labor force of 14,730, there was 14,210 employed and 530 were unemployed.

In Weakley County, the unemployment rate increased to 3.1 percent, up from 3.1 one month earlier, and 3.5 percent one year earlier. From a labor force of 16,700, a total 0of 16,120 were employed and 580 were unemployed.
The northwest Tennessee region of Tennessee had the highest unemployment rate of all the regions in the state with 4.0 percent unemployment across nine counties.
Five West Tennessee counties are listed in the top ten highest in unemployment with Carroll County listed ninth. The other counties include Lake, Dyer, Lauderdale, and McNairy counties.
Williamson County had the lowest unemployment rate at 2.2 percent, and Clay County had the highest at 5.4 percent.
