Burglary — The Sheriff’s Department is investigating the recent burglary of a Cedar Grove residence.
Jimmy Segraves told officers on March 8 that someone entered his residence at 875 Highway 424 without his permission and took several items. Reported as stolen were a glass jug valued at $200, which contained around $700 in change; a 44-caliber handgun valued at $750; a 9 mm handgun valued at $1,000; and a 223-caliber A.R. rifle valued at $900.
Stolen Vehicle, Drugs — A Hollow Rock man and a Savannah woman were arrested on multiple charges during a March 8 traffic stop in Hollow Rock. Dallas Brooks Kennedy, 20, of 21185 Seminary Street was charged with possession of stolen property and driving on a suspended license. Brittany Ann Trevathan, 28, of Savannah was charged with possession of stolen property, two counts of possession of a schedule II drug, and possession of a schedule VI drug. According to the report by Sgt. Michael Smith, he pulled over a vehicle driven by Kennedy on Broad Street after running the tag and discovering that the vehicle had been reported as stolen. While searching Trevathan, who was a passenger in the vehicle, officers found two grams of a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine in a cigarette pack, a bag containing 15.5 grams of a substance believed to be marijuana, and two Oxycodone pills. A computer check showed that Kennedy’s license was suspended.

Reckless Driving, Disorderly Conduct — A Madison County man was arrested during a March 9 traffic stop on Highway 70 near the Carroll-Madison County line. Jimmy Ray Griffin Jr., 26, of Jackson was charged with violation of open container law, reckless driving, and disorderly conduct. According to the report by Deputy Ethan Parham, he pulled over a silver Honda Civic driven by Griffin after observing the vehicle swerving in and out of traffic. At one point, Griffin began cursing at officers on the scene, and, according to Parham, Griffin threatened to do harm to Parham and his wife while being transported to the Carroll County Jail.
Theft — A chainsaw was recently reported as being stolen from private property in Hollow Rock.
Jesse Christman told officers on March 9 that someone stole his 455 Husqvarna chainsaw valued at $900 earlier that day from the front porch of his residence at 22895 Highway 114. Christman said the theft occurred sometime between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Burglary — Items were recently reported as being stolen from private property in Atwood. Rita Galloway told officers on March 12 that someone removed the lock on her storage building at 605 West Main Street and took items from the building. Reported as stolen were a generator valued at $400, a bouncy house valued at $300, and a silver ladder valued at $300.
