Carroll Relay for Life is June 21

Carroll County’s 23rd Anniversary of Relay For Life is quickly approaching. Team members are working diligently to make this year’s event a success. Relay For Life is Friday, June 21 from 5-11 p.m. Opening Ceremony is at 6:00 p.m. with Carl Byars as the emcee. Bethany Hollingsworth will sing the National Anthem. Before the Survivor Ceremony, entertainment will be provided by Patty Easley.
At 7 p.m. the sponsors will be recognized. This year’s honorary co-chairs represent the county:   Meklisha Ridgely from the West Carroll area, Hannah Reeves from Huntingdon, Candi Lowe from McKenzie, and Ruth Eason from Bruceton.   The Survivor and Caregiver lap will follow. There will be golf carts and Gators available for those who cannot walk the track.
At 7:45 p.m. a surprise entertainer will perform for one hour. 8-9 pm we will have Dakota Jordan and Chase Inman as our Entertainers.

The Luminary ceremony/lap begins at 9 p.m. to memorialize those lost to cancer, honor people who have fought cancer in the past, and support those whose fight continues. Candles are lit inside of a personalized bag and placed around the Relay track as a glowing tribute to those who have been affected by cancer. Anyone wishing to purchase a luminaria bag you can contact any Relay For Life team member or they will be available that night for $5.
This year’s teams and what they will have at their campsite includes:   Huntingdon Methodist Church-Homemade Ice Cream; McKenzie Medical Center- Popcorn, Drinks, Candy, Fresh Fruit Cups; Baptist Memorial Hospital- Bouncy Obstacle Course, Cornhole Tournament, Rook Tournament; Bruceton Methodist Church- Grilled Hamburger/Cheeseburger, Hotdogs, Hot Fudge Cake Sundaes; Preferred Compounding-Ribeye Steak Sandwiches; Carroll Bank & Trust-bottled water, glow bracelets and necklaces; Rich Family-Grilled BBQ Bologna Sandwiches, Sweet Tea, Pecan Tassies; Wal-Mart- Sno-Cones, Dunk Tank; Huntingdon First Baptist Church- Fish plate and trimmings; McKenzie Methodist Church-Cake Pops; Overflow Church- TBA.
These teams have been working and planning since last November to make this event a fun night as we Celebrate, Remember, and Fightback so please join us on Friday, June 21, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Carroll County Civic Center in Huntingdon.   For more information or to make reservations for any Cancer Survivors, please contact Tracy Teague at 363-9767, Kathy Whitehead at 986-9221, or Johnny Beth Nolen at 986-8496.
