Cats Stage Comeback to Beat Life in SSAC/MSC Challenge

MCKENZIE, Tenn. (November 10) – The Bethel Wildcats staged a remarkable comeback in Crisp Arena Saturday night to beat Life University 80-79.  Bethel’s Charles Cobb hit a lay-up with 10 seconds left and it proved to be the game winner. The Wildcats were down 12 with 11 minutes to go and trailed by seven with a minute left in the game.

Life missed a shot in the waning seconds and the Wildcats escaped to move to 2-1 on the season. Life dropped to 3-2.

Life shot 52 percent from the floor hitting 31 of 59 shots. Bethel was 32 of 72 at 44 percent. The Eagles knocked down eight three’s while Bethel hit seven on the night. Both teams had 15 turnovers in the game. The Wildcats finished with 20 assists.  

Cayden Edmonson led the Cats with 22 points and nine rebounds. Isaac Edmondson had 16 points and four steals while Chase Nappier sparked the Cats with 15 points. Braxton Nappier was credited with seven steals. Evan Milligan led Life with 27 points.

Coach Jeff Britt said he kids never gave up.” Our kids played hard and never gave up despite it looking really tough. They fought hard and I am really proud of them.”  

The Wildcats return to action Friday in the Chick-fil-A Classic at Crisp. They host Rust College at 8 p.m. and then meet Cumberland University Saturday at 4 p.m.
