Posted

McKENZIE (August 16) — The new location of City Florist and More was filled with well-wishers on Saturday, August 25 for the grand opening celebration. Attending the event were County Mayor Kenny McBride, McKenzie Mayor Jill Holland, Carroll County Chamber of Commerce President Brad Hurley, family members, and friends. Brother Kevin Wood offered a prayer prior to the ribbon cutting.
The special event was during McKenzie’s annual Fried and Sweet Tea Festival.
David and Michele Jarrett purchased City Florist, located on Waldren Street, and are relocating the business to the new location, behind Edwards Jones Investments.
The Jarretts have completed remodeled the former Ford dealership and made spacious room for the floral business and seating for the coffee and cake business.

Mindy McCallum and David Jarrett are trained baristas and Andrea McReynolds has added a display cabinet for purchase of her pastries from Ginger Baby Cakery. The coffee bar will offer lattes, hot chocolate, macchiato, mocha, iced mocha, cappuccino, teas, drip coffee and specialty coffee.
Violet Patterson, former owner of City Florist, continues to manage the full-service floral business with the assistance of Kim Chapman and Sherry Epperson.
David recently retired from the U.S. Army/National Guard with 30 years of full-time service. He retired with the rank of master sergeant, the same as his dad. He was headquartered in Jackson with the 194th Engineer Brigade. He completed two tours of duty in Iraq and Kuwait.
Michele will continue to work with the Social Security Administration in Paris. They have three children, Morgan, Zach, and Evan.
