Commission Denies Addition of Belew Lane

Posted

HUNTINGDON (October 8) Belew Lane, just outside of Trezevant, was not added to the county's road maintenance system following a unanimous vote by Carroll County Commissioners.

The rural road was requested to be added to the county's road system, however, after learning the road was substandard and the person requesting the addition had somewhat misled the Highway Committee, the commissioners chose not to add it.

In other business, commissioners tabled a resolution concerning a request by McKenzie Industrial Board to allow the Board to grant PILOTs - Payment in Lieu of Taxes to new industries. PILOTs have been issued by McKenzie, Huntingdon and the county's industrial boards for years without the formal approval process requested by McKenzie Industrial Board. Differing legal opinions is why the action was instead moved to the McKenzie City Council, the governmental authorizing body of McKenzie Industrial Board.
