MACEDONIA (August 20) — The Macedonia Fire Department is one step closer to having a new firehouse, thanks to contributions big and small from the community.
Concrete was poured Monday for the foundation, and construction on the building will begin as soon as possible.
In an interview with The Banner, Chief Brady Jackson explained that the older firehouse had major structural issues and was beyond repair. The department moved to a temporary building in the Hico community, which it will retain as a satellite station.
Chief Jackson said that funds for the project were acquired through community support. The fire department worked closely with the Macedonia Community Center in fundraising efforts.
