McKENZIE (March 21) — The McKenzie High School Rebels hosted Henry County on a chilly Thursday for a non-district baseball contest. Six errors committed by the Rebels led to the three unearned runs that made the difference in a 6-4 Patriot win.
Henry County scored four runs in the top of the first on just one hit. McKenzie answered with a run in the home half and tied it with three in the second frame. The Patriots quickly regained the lead with a run in the top of the third, then added an insurance run in the fifth.
The second-inning rally by the Rebels chased Henry County starter Rick Conroy, but Paul Atkins struck out ten and allowed just one hit in four and two-thirds innings of relief to quiet the Rebel bats.
