Frances Nell Priest Deck was born on October 14, 1929 in the Stafford Store Community to W.M. and Iva Stafford Priest.

On January 5, 1946 in Cornith, Mississippi, she married her teenage sweetheart, Jim H. Galloway. Together they had one daughter, Suzanne Galloway Reed, whom they both totally loved and adored.

After the passing of her late husband, she was later blessed with another love of her life, Algie Presley Deck, whom she married on May 29, 1970. Together they enjoyed many years of traveling in their camper and fishing excursions in their deep-sea fishing boat while on trips to Florida.

Nell was a great aunt to Kelvin (Sarah) and Jacob (Autumn) Canaday and known as a beloved Nanny to all her adopted grandchildren Erica (Casey) Ross, Ellen (Grayson) Elmore, Sam (Brittany) Owen, and James (Monica) Owen. She was also a proud Nanny to her adopted great-grandchildren, Aniston and Ashton Ross, Oliver and Nate Owen, and Orion, Zeke, and Lex Elmore.

Nell loved the Lord and was a Meridian Cumberland Presbyterian Church member for over 70 years. She was also a proud member of the Carroll County RSVP Choir and thoroughly enjoyed singing hymns and Christmas music with the group for many years. In addition to working as a seamstress by trade until she retired from Kellwood, she also enjoyed leisurely sewing, cross-stitching, and gardening as she lived out most of her life in the comforts of the rural Greenhill community.

On April 25th, 2023 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital Nell  died peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior.

She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (James T.) Reed as well as numerous loved ones. In addition to her loving late parents and husbands, she is preceded in death by her sister, Rosie Dunning.

Funeral services for Nell Deck are Sunday April 30, 2023 at the Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. and going until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m.

Following the funeral service, she will be laid to rest at the Meridian Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery alongside her loving late husband, Algie.
