PULASKI — Entering action at Martin Methodist Saturday the Bethel Lady Wildcats had not lost a game since December 15 when they dropped a 77-75 heartbreaker to the RedHawks in Crisp Arena. Since that loss the Lady Cats had ripped off 12 straight victories. The Cats avenged their only home loss of the year and captured their 13th straight win with a 79-69 win in the Curry Christian Life Center.
No. 14 Bethel moved 23-3 overall and 15-1 in the SSAC.
Martin Methodist dropped to 16-10 and 10-6. Both teams struggled early as MMC led 12-11 at the end of the first quarter. Bethel used an 8-0 run to close out the second quarter and led at the half 30-27. The Lady Cats upped that lead early in the third to ten at 40-30. The Hawks put together a huge run and eventually scored 34 points in the quarter and took a 57-49 lead at the end of three. The run was sparked by Keely Ellison who knocked down five three-pointers.
The Lady Wildcats would hit four three’s in the fourth and outscore the RedHawks 30-12 to win by ten. The game was defined by 15 lead changes and eight ties.

The Lady Wildcats finished with eight three’s giving them a nation leading 245 on the year. Myah Taylor led the Cats with 22 points. She hit five treys giving her 103 on the season. She passed former Bethel great Tayla Foster (101) with the most in a single season. Taylor also pulled down 10 rebounds. Tyasia Willis had a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards. Morgan Martin followed with 13 points and six rebounds. Martin is six points shy of becoming the 16th all-time Lady Wildcat with 1, 000 or more career points.
Tasia Jones was huge off the Bethel bench with nine points, three rebounds and three assists. Ellison led MMC with 21 points.
Bethel’s ability to get to the foul line was a factor as the Lady Cats hit 19-of-26 attempts. Bethel also had a 42-28 rebound advantage.
Coach Chris Nelson was pleased with how his team came from behind to win. “We are very pleased with how our team reacted in fighting back and finding a way to win. Coach Evans does a super job and his team plays so hard. We have not had to play behind much of the season and it was nice to see how our ladies reacted. Even after that barrage of points they put up in the third we settled down and made big play after big play. Morgan’s and Myah’s three-pointers were big and the basket by Jani Crawford when we down by eight was a huge momentum bucket. Tyasia and Millie (Bryant) made some huge plays as well. We showed continued maturity with this effort in what has always been a tough place to play through the years.” The Lady Wildcats travel to conference rival Loyola Thursday for a 5:30 tip against the Wolfpack. They play their last regular season road game Saturday at William Carey. They return home to close out their regular season February 21 against Stillman College and February 23 hosting Mobile. The SSAC Championships begin February 27 in Montgomery.
