Lady Rebel Softball Begins

Lady Rebel Softball hit the field for the start of their season with games at Camden, March 11, and at home against West Carroll on March 12. Their season is off to a slow start losing both contests.
Camden – 8 Lady Rebels – 3
Camden scored a run in the bottom of the first inning to take an early lead and tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the third to lead the Lady Rebels 3-0. After both teams went scoreless in the fourth inning Camden exploded for four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 7-0 lead. The Lady Rebels answered with three runs in the top of the sixth inning to make it 7-3. The Lady Lions added one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
McKenzie managed five hits spread out among five players. Shelby Tucker, Jenna Tucker, Carli Brown, Blair Putman, and Emily Bolin all had hits while Chloe Williams, Jenna Tucker, and Sarah Jackson scored the runs. Brown took the loss on the mound for the Lady Rebels.

West Carroll – 3 Lady Rebels - 1
Last Tuesday, the Lady Rebels played host to West Carroll in their first home game and district contest losing a close one to the Lady War Eagles. All of the scoring took place in the third inning with West Carroll scoring 3 in the top of the inning and the Lady Rebels answering with their solo run in the bottom of the inning. Otherwise it was mostly a defensive contest. McKenzie had four hits on the day while West Carroll had seven hits
Camille Travis got 2 of McKenzie’s four hits on the day with Jenna Tucker and Carli Brown getting the other two hits. Jenna drove in Travis for McKenzie’s only run. Brown took her second loss on the mound for the Lady Rebels.
Macey Cunningham and Alexis Houston had two hits each to lead the Lady War Eagles. Cunningham scored one of the runs while Tatum Keymon scored the other two runs for West Carroll. Shelby Browning got the win for West Carroll going the distance giving up only four hits, one run, and striking out six batters.
McKenzie was in action yesterday (March 18) hosting Bruceton and will host Clarksburg, this Thursday, March 21 in a doubleheader.
