GREENFIELD (August 23) — The McKenzie Middle School softball team traveled Thursday to face the Lady Yellowjackets. Lady Rebel Payton Ognibene threw a one-hit shutout as the offense piled on the runs for a 14-0 win in three innings.
McKenzie scored four runs in the top of the first, put up an eight-spot in the second and added a pair in the third to end the game early.
Lady Rebel Belle O’Brien was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Kassidy Brown was 3-for-3 with a triple, two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored. Kylie Reynolds was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Katie Prather was 2-for-2 with with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored. Savannah Davis was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored. Payton Ognibene was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Nicole Gibson was 2-for-2 with a run scored. Taylor Rawls was 0-for-1 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored. Mikaela Reynolds was 0-for-0 with two walks and a run scored.
Audrey Arnold was 1-for-1 for Greenfield.
Payton Ognibene earned the one-hit shutout for McKenzie, striking out five and walking one.
Lady Yellowjacket Brenley Little took the complete-game loss, allowing 14 runs (13 earned) on 15 hits while striking out one and walking four.
