McKenzie Police Host National Night Out Block Party

McKENZIE (August 7) — The McKenzie Police Department hosted a National Night Out block party downtown Tuesday evening.

A national event hosted in part by the National Association of Town Watch, the National Night Out 2018, America’s Night Out Against Crime is one of the nation’s largest annual crime- and drug-prevention events.

The event is designed to heighten crime- and drug-prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in anti-crime programs and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community relations.

The block party featured food and drinks, a dunking booth (manned by MPD officers), a giant slide and bounce house and other activities, all free of charge.

Ollie Otter was a big hit with the kids. The Ollie Otter Seat Belt and Booster Seat Safety Program teaches seat belt and booster seat education to children in pre-K through 4th grade with interactive programs in elementary schools through sponsorship with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office.

Contributing to the National Night Out were the McKenzie Police Department, the City of McKenzie, the Town of Huntingdon, Carroll County Fire and Rescue, Subway, E.W. James, Cash Express and Ollie Otter.
