DUI/Simple Possession — A McKenzie man was arrested on multiple charges last Saturday night, February 2, after an employee of Subway called MPD in regards to a person who fell asleep at the drive-thru window. Two officers responded and while attempting to get him awake they smelled a strong odor of what they believed to be marijuana.
According to Officer Jeff Winberry’s report, the driver, Demarcus Robinson, of McKenzie, admitted that he smoked marijuana prior to the officers arrival. A search revealed a 3.5 gram baggie in the console of his car. Robinson also admitted he didn’t have a valid drivers license. Robinson refused a blood test to determine if he had intoxicants in his system. He was charged with DUI-First Offense, Simple Possession of a Schedule VI drug, Driving on Suspended License-Second Offense and was cited for violation of the implied consent law. He was placed under $2,500 bond and transported to Carroll County Jail.
Theft — McKenzie Police responded to a call from Dollar Tree on Highland Drive, last Saturday night, February 2, in regards to a shoplifter in the store. Officer Jeff Winberry located the female in the store and requested she go to the store office where several items were found in her purse and on her person. Winberry cited Sandra Lott of Huntingdon in to General Sessions Court for Theft of Property under $500.
