DUI/Simple Possession — A McKenzie man was arrested on multiple charges last Saturday night, February 2, after an employee of Subway called MPD in regards to a person who fell asleep at the drive-thru window. Two officers responded and while attempting to get him awake they smelled a strong odor of what they believed to be marijuana.
According to Officer Jeff Winberry’s report, the driver, Demarcus Robinson, of McKenzie, admitted that he smoked marijuana prior to the officers arrival. A search revealed a 3.5 gram baggie in the console of his car. Robinson also admitted he didn’t have a valid drivers license. Robinson refused a blood test to determine if he had intoxicants in his system. He was charged with DUI-First Offense, Simple Possession of a Schedule VI drug, Driving on Suspended License-Second Offense and was cited for violation of the implied consent law. He was placed under $2,500 bond and transported to Carroll County Jail.
Theft — McKenzie Police responded to a call from Dollar Tree on Highland Drive, last Saturday night, February 2, in regards to a shoplifter in the store. Officer Jeff Winberry located the female in the store and requested she go to the store office where several items were found in her purse and on her person. Winberry cited Sandra Lott of Huntingdon in to General Sessions Court for Theft of Property under $500.

Driving on Suspended License — On Sunday, February 3, Officer Jeff Winberry observed a Grey Nissan Altima driving erratically on Magnolia Avenue and initiated a stop. The driver, Crystal Bratton of McKenzie, was found to be driving on a suspended license and also had an active warrant for Failure to Appear. Bratton was placed under arrest and transported to Carroll County Jail.
Unauthorized Use of Disabled Space — Officer Mark Boaz responded to a request from Bethel University last Saturday, February 2, to assist with an issue with students and non-students parking in handicapped parking around campus. A vehicle was found in a handicap spot in front of Heritage Hall. The vehicle’s owner, Markeus Patterson of Bradford was cited for Unauthorized Use of Disabled Space/Permit.
Public Intoxication — McKenzie Police responded to a call about a man on the back porch of a McClure Street Residence. Stanley Joyner of Trezevant was found to have an odor of an alcoholic beverage and was unsteady on his feet. Joyner was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication and transported to Carroll County Jail.
