Simple Possession/Drug Paraphernalia — McKenzie Police were dispatched to Fast Fuel on Hwy 22, Monday afternoon, September 17, in reference to a young man passing a city crew cursing at them. The vehicle then pulled into the gas station after the incident.
According to a report by Officer Paul Eddlemon, he located the vehicle driven by Jeremy Abbott of McKenzie at the station and questioned him about the incident. Abbott stated he had been into an argument with his step-father which was why he acted as he did towards the city crew. He also admitted he had never had a drivers license. A license check confirmed Abbott’s statement.
Abbott was asked about weapons and agreed to a search of his vehicle. The search revealed a carpet knife and bag with a glass pipe and a straw that contained a plastic baggie containing a clear rock looking substance believed to be Methamphetamine Ice. A field test confirmed the rock to be Meth. Abbott stated in the report he bought the rock from someone at Little General.
Abbott was cited for simple possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and no drivers license.

Domestic Assault — McKenzie Police received a call from 911 dispatch early Sunday morning, September 23, stating there was an unwanted person in an Oaklawn Drive residence. Two officers were dispatched to the scene where they learned the caller, Kellie Rainey, of McKenzie, had been struck in the face.
According to the report filed by Sgt. Trey Boucher, the officers were met at the door by Michael Stanton, Jr. of McKenzie. Rainey told Boucher and Officer Mark Boaz that Stanton had slapped her in the face after an argument. Rainey also stated Stanton had struck her in the nose.
Stanton admitted to officers that he pushed Ms. Rainey’s face away because she was in his face. Stanton was arrested for domestic assault with a bond of 500.00 and transported to Carroll County Jail.

Multiple Domestic Assault — Saturday evening, September 22, McKenzie Police received two calls from a Randle Street residence regarding a domestic assault in progress.
According to reports filed by Officers Cody Coleman and Mark Boaz, the home owner, David Pryor, met them in the yard and told officers that Brian Sawyer was causing the problem and he wanted him out. Yelling could be heard by the officers. Sawyer opened the door as officers were about to enter and he was immediately placed in custody and put in a patrol car.
Officers spoke to several persons in the home and discovered there were two victims including one juvenile. The first victim, Candance Muldovan, told police that Sawyer grabbed her by the throat and threw her across a bed. The second victim was a juvenile who Muldovan said also was thrown across a room. The juvenile verified what Muldovan told officers. Michelle Emert, Sawyer’s mother, was also present and confirmed the victims’ version of what happen.
Sawyer was charged with two counts of domestic assault. Further investigation found that Sawyer has two prior domestic assault convictions and two prior assaults on a minor.

Driving on a Suspended/Revoked License — Monday night, September 17, Officer Cody Coleman initiated a stop on a red Chevy Suburban for display of registration plate at the Cornerstone Gas Station. According to Coleman’s report the driver, Justin Michael Anderson of McKenzie, stated he did not have his drivers license with him. A license check showed his license to be revoked in Alabama for failure to appear in court. He also had four prior offenses of driving on a suspended license. Anderson was arrested and charged with his fifth offense driving on a suspended license and transported to Carroll County Jail.

Driving on a Suspended/Revoked License — Officer Steven Scott stopped a vehicle for speeding Thursday night, September 20. The driver, Duane Smith of McKenzie, was found to be driving on a suspended license for failure to appear in court. He was arrested for driving on a suspended license second offense and given a warning for speeding.

Driving on a Suspended/Revoked License — Officer Scott stopped another vehicle for speeding Thursday, September 20. After initiating the stop, the driver, Lloyd Sawyer of Camden stated he did not have a license. A license check found his license to be suspended multiple times. Sawyer was given a warning for speeding and arrested for his fifth offense driving on a suspended license.
