Aggravated Burglary/Theft — McKenzie Police are investigating a house break-in which occurred Tuesday, October 16. Diane Beauchamp of McKenzie contacted MPD shortly before 9:00 that evening to report the burglary. Two officers responded and were shown where someone came in through a back window. A small table was found turned over as well as items found all over the living room floor. Beauchamp advised she left the house around 3:00 in the afternoon that day and returned shortly before contacting police.
Beauchamp also stated to police that she found the power off when she got home and that she had a small camera mounted in the living room. The only thing found missing was a full bottle of medicine. The incident remains under investigation.
Simple Possession — Sgt. Kyle Beauchamp made a traffic stop on a silver Pontiac late last Thursday night after observing the passenger side head light out. According to Beauchamp’s report, he smelled what he knew to be marijuana as he approached the vehicle. The driver was identified as Marlisha Lewis of Cordova along with a passenger, India Hogan of Jackson and an unidentified passenger. After explaining what the stop was for, the people in the vehicle were asked where the marijuana was. They all responded that they had left a house where people were smoking marijuana. After being told that there was probable cause to search the vehicle, Lewis produced a small bag of marijuana she had in her jacket. Another baggie was found in the vehicle belonging to Hogan. They both were cited into Carroll County General Sessions Court for one count of simple possession of a schedule VI drug each.

An antique window was found broken valued at 150 dollars.

According to a report filed by Officer Cody Coleman, three people were located at the laundry identified as Benjamin Williams, Matthew Thompson, and Brianna Gooch. Coleman observed Williams, from McClenny, Florida, being unsteady on his feet and asked if he had been drinking or taken any drugs. He replied he hadn’t. Williams was asked to do field sobriety tests which he did not perform the tests as instructed. After being questioned again, he admitted to drinking three beers and was placed under arrest for Public Intoxication and transported to Carroll County Jail.
Driving on Suspended/Revoked License — Officer Mark Boaz made a traffic stop early last Thursday morning on a white SUV with only one headlight working.
