Posted

The McKenzie High School Rebels kicked off the soccer season last week with contests against three tough non-district opponents. They came away winless, losing by just one goal in two games and earning a draw in the other. In Monday’s season opener, the Rebels hosted Madison Academic and fell 2-1. Francisco Padilla scored the lone McKenzie goal, and goalkeeper Will Essary recorded six saves.
Thursday, the Rebels traveled to Paris to face Henry County High School. The contest ended in a tie. Complete statistics for this game were not available.
Friday, the Rebels traveled to Medina for a contest against South Gibson. Again, McKenzie was defeated 2-1. Diego Calderon scored for McKenzie, and goalkeeper Will Essary had ten saves.
Following Spring Break, the Rebels will return to action Monday, April 1 at home against Trenton-Peabody. The game begins at 5:30 p.m.
