Newspaper Adds Press Capacity During National Newspaper Week

Posted

It’s National Newspaper Week and this newspaper is investing in new equipment to improve the overall quality of print of the weekly publication.
While many press companies have shuttered or greatly downsized, Associated Publishers, Inc. is making a contrarian move – adding capacity at its Huntingdon-based operations. The printing company is owned by The McKenzie Banner, Dresden Enterprise, Carroll County News-Leader, (Milan) Mirror-Exchange, Lexington Progress and (Savannah) Courier.

API is adding a four-high color unit to improve the overall quality of print and add capacity for color throughout the newspaper. A four-high is a two-story tall printing unit that prints the four composite ink colors of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black (CMYK) in one pass. The $100,000 addition is being installed this week at the Elks Lodge Lane address.
With the new units, API can print 24 total pages in one section or a full-color 12-page section.
Associated Publishers, Inc. has printed The McKenzie Banner and Dresden Enterprise in Huntingdon since 1973. Prior to that date, the newspaper was printed on Waldran Street, McKenzie.
