One Dies in Henry Fire on Thursday

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to 8518 Hwy 79 South this morning at 11:36 am to a report of a home on fire.

Upon officers and firefighter’s arrival to the home, belonging to Walter Steve Bowden, the house was fully engulfed in flames. There were five occupants in the home when the fire broke out. Mr. Bowden was not home at the time of the fire.

Emergency responds on the scene were able to get everyone out of the home but there were two individuals that were injured. Henry County EMS transported both of the patients to the Henry County Medical Center. Since that time, one of the injured succumbed to wounds and died.  No names are being released at this time until notification has been made.

The home is a total loss and at this time it is unknown what caused or started the fire. Along with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office CID the TN State Bomb and Arson are on the scene working the incident.
