Internet, Electricity Outages

Oversized Load Damaged Utility Poles

Posted

McKENZIE — An over-height mobile home destroyed two utility poles and caused outages of electricity, telephone, and internet in the area.
Danny Brawner, general manager of Carroll County Electric, said electric crews from McKenzie and Huntingdon worked about eight to ten hours repairing damage after one-half of a double-wide mobile home was being towed and snagged the lower cables belonging to either Charter Spectrum or TEC fiber that is suspended on the poles at the intersection of State Route 22 and U.S. 79 in McKenzie. The two poles also had three-phase electrical service lines that were also snapped.

Initially, 600 electrical customers were without power for approximately one hour, another 100 were without power two to three hours, and 23 customers were without power eight to 10 hours.
The Paris Board of Public Utilities assisted Carroll County Electric in splicing and restoring service to the Carroll County Electric fiber lines.
Charter Spectrum’s internet service throughout the region was also out about eight hours.
