McKenzie (August 10) — The Tennessee Pharmacists Associations (TPA), Count It! Lock It! Drop It!, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee and Phipps Pharmacy have partnered together to place a new permanent prescription drug dropbox location in Carroll County as part of the Tennessee RX Take-Back Project.
Phipps Pharmacy applied for a grant with TPA and Count It! Lock It! Drop It! for the dropbox.
Brianna Douglas, a McKenzie graduate and pharmacy intern from Union University with Phipps Pharmacy, wrote the grant on behalf of the pharmacy.
The RX Take-Back Project will expand drug disposal sites throughout Tennessee focusing on local pharmacies.
The project allows for more ease of disposal and education regarding prescription drug safety.
The new disposal box is located at Phipps Pharmacy, 205-B Hospital Drive, McKenzie, Tennessee 38201 and is one of 20 drop boxes being placed in pharmacies across the state. Community members are encouraged to take advantage of the new permanent box during the pharmacy’s business hours.
