ATWOOD (May 7) — The McKenzie Rebels earned an 8-5 win Tuesday in Huntingdon’s first attempt to clinch the District 11A Championship.
Handing the Mustangs their first loss of the tournament forced a Wednesday rematch to determine the district title.
McKenzie struck first with a pair of runs in the top of the first, then pulled away with five in the second. Huntingdon took a chunk out of the lead with four runs in the bottom of the third.
The Rebels added an insurance run in the fourth, and the Mustangs pushed across one in the fifth.
Rebel Chase Daffron was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Chase Colotta was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
