Rebels End Stellar Season as West Tennessee Runner-Up

McKENZIE (April 26) — The McKenzie Middle School soccer team saw a phenomenal season come to a bittersweet end Friday in a 1-0 loss to the St. Mary’s Angels in the championship game of the West Tennessee Regional Soccer Conference at Bethel University’s Wildcat Stadium.
The Rebels were previously unbeaten on the season with a 10-0 record including two tournament wins to reach the title match. Overall, they outscored their opponents 48-5 on the year.
Following the championship, players were named to the All-Conference Team. McKenzie was represented by defender Rashad McCreary.

McKenzie’s 8-0 regular season included wins over Inman (3-1), Union City (4-1), Martin (4-0), Henderson United (6-0), Obion County (7-0), Lexington (7-0), Henry County (10-1) and Inman (3-0).
The Rebels opened the conference tournament with a 3-1 win over Dyersburg, then topped Medina 1-0 in the semifinals.
The 2019 MMS Rebel soccer team included: Kylie Reynolds, Jesse Calderon, Etijay Tharpe, Zay Webber, Bryson Steele, Austin Cooper, Bryce Becerra, Rashad McCreary, Hannah Dillingham, Hunter Brasfield, Marquez Taylor, Bryant Haynes, Zack Aird, Maddox Martin, Ralph Dennie, Stafford Roditis, Grant Cooper, Guillermo Hickman, Skyler Fornera, Cordell Orgain and Allie Walker. Ty Riggins is the head coach.
