Recycling in Carroll County

Posted

I would like to address the subject of recycling in Carroll County. We are part of a larger world that is being choked with consumers’ plastics, metals, styrofoam, and aluminum. Large portions of the seas are covered in garbage, and our landfill supply is limited. Many people recycle their aluminum cans, and many people recycle their paper in the containers in town. However, many do not. It is so easy to recycle those newspapers and other paper waste and aluminum cans. The Humane Society will take the aluminum cans. There are three bins in town that hold paper. Walmart will take back plastic bags, or you can buy your own reusable bags.
Now, if we only had a way to recycle other plastics. To my knowledge, there is nowhere to recycle plastics in our county. The nearest place we’ve found is in Camden, TN. In light of the amounts of plastic we dispose of, it would be wonderful if Carroll County could recycle those, and do our part to better this beautiful earth we’ve been given. God has allowed us to be stewards of the earth, and it’s up to us to guard it and use its resources wisely. Please, let’s urge our local representatives to initiate a system so that we can keep up with our neighbors who do manage plastics recycling. Many communities today have mandatory recycling of glass, paper, regular waste, and aluminum.
If you see a chance to recycle, please do so. It’s the only world we have.
