Rotary Hears Program on Grants for Training

Posted

Maleia Evans of Northwest Tennessee Workforce Board and Krista Martin, president of McKenzie Rotary Club.

McKENZIE (May 7) Maleia Evans of the Northwest Tennessee Workforce Board spoke to the McKenzie Rotary Club concerning available grants for job training and for subsidizing the cost of new employees.

Evans spoke of two programs available for businesses. The first is the job training grant to assist the cost of hiring and training new employees. The second was a grant available to train existing employees.

She said the state has funds to assist existing businesses and governmental entities with training. The utilization in Carroll County is almost non-existent because businesses are unaware of the availability of the funds. She said she works through the local chambers of commerce in Benton, Carroll, Gibson, Henry, and Weakley counties to help spread the message about the available grant funding.
