Southern Fried & Sweet Tea Festival is This Weekend

The 6th Annual Southern Fried and Sweet Tea Festival takes place downtown McKenzie this weekend, August 24th and 25th. There will be something for everyone both days including live entertainment, a kids zone featuring carnival rides, a petting zoo, jumpers and games, as well as lots of food and craft vendors.
Southern Fried Funnies will kick off the Festival Thursday Night, August 23 at the Park Theatre beginning at 7 p.m. Friday night’s events run from 6 until 9 p.m. with Longshot providing entertainment from 6-8 p.m. The Bowling Family will close out the live entertainment from 8-9 p.m.

Saturday’s events will run all day from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Vendors will start closing up at 8 p.m.
The Sweet Tea Table Tennis Tournament gets started at 9 a.m. at the Vera Low Center at Bethel University. There will be a total prize payout of $1,050, the largest amount given in any tournament in the Mid-South. Players from 3 states have signed up and some will come in the night before and enjoy the festivities. Not only will there be a competitive atmosphere of top notch athletes, but also free admission for spectators.
Southern Fried Funnies will have another show at 2 p.m. Live music entertainment begins at 1 p.m. with local talent until 4 p.m. when Mike Hightower & Friends takes the stage. At 4:30 p.m., Tera Townsend entertains the crowd followed by the return of No Time Flatt at 5 p.m. and the Paula Bridges Band will provide the evening’s entertainment at 7 p.m.
