The 6th Annual Southern Fried and Sweet Tea Festival held in downtown McKenzie was a great success with many vendors, attendees, and great musical entertainment.
The event was August 24th and 25th. One of the big hits was the kids zone featuring carnival rides, a petting zoo, jumpers and games.
Southern Fried Funnies had two performances - Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon. Both performances were well attended.
Longshot and the Bowling Family performed Friday evening. Bethel Renaissance Theatre and the Paula Bridges Band closed out the events on Saturday evening.
The Sweet Tea Table Tennis Tournament was at the Vera Low Center at Bethel University. Players from three states participated
Jennifer Waldrup with the city of McKenzie said the events were well attended. The Friday evening cool temperatures added to the festive atmosphere. Regardless of the high temperatures on Saturday, many attendees came out to visit the many arts and crafts booths, bought some good southern fried food from the many food vendors, and enjoyed the musical entertainment.
