MARTIN, Tenn. - T.H. “Tom” Farmer, III, age 89, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018, at his residence.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church. Burial followed in East Side Cemetery in Martin with Murphy Funeral Home of Martin in charge of the arrangements.

He graduated from McKenzie High School, attended Vanderbilt University, was a graduate of Bowling Green University with a double major in business and accounting and was a United States Army Korean War veteran. He was the owner and operator of Lovelace-Farmer Wholesale Grocery in Martin.

He served on the Weakley County Commission, Weakley County School Board, Weakley County Municipal Electric Board where he was treasurer for 40 years, the Martin Industrial Board, UTM Development Board, First Citizens Bank Advisory Board in Martin and served on the finance committee for First United Methodist Church, was a director, president and chairman of the board for the Martin Bank. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Martin.

Farmer is survived by his wife, Angeline Fisher Farmer of Martin; his daughter, Patricia Farmer of Lavergne; his son, David Farmer of Smyrna; and two grandchildren, Amanda Farmer of Smyrna and Daniel Farmer of Los Angeles, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, T. H. Farmer Jr. and Paula Baker Farmer.

Memorials requested to the First United Methodist Church Parsonage Fund.
