The Shepherd’s Table Returns to First Presbyterian-Huntingdon

Posted

The Shepherd's Table is having its next supper on Tuesday, October 16, at the First Presbyterian Church of Huntingdon, located at 19835 E. Main Street. Dining begins promptly at 5 p.m. and the kitchen opens until 6:45 p.m. Anyone hungry or seeking fellowship for a meal is invited.

The Shepherd's Table is a Community Kitchen created by the members, volunteers and friends of the First Presbyterian Church of Huntingdon. Lead by co-chairmen and church members, David Ray Carter and his wife, Suzanne, the group achieves its mission each month of feeding all who come through the door.

Everyone who attends The Shepherd's Table is treated as a guest and served restaurant style. Guests are taken to a table and seated by a volunteer that takes their order for supper and their drink. The October meal will be a delicious home-cooked entree with various side items and a iced tea or water. A special addition to supper this month is pies and cobblers furnished by the The Pie Lady, Nicki Cronkright. The volunteers do all of the cleanup, as well. The guests are asked to simply enjoy a delicious meal compliments of the hard-working kitchen staff.

The mission of the Community Kitchen was to serve as many people in need of a hot meal as possible.  The community kitchen's success is dependent upon the number of guests, volunteers and donations. If you know of someone who needs a hot meal or would just prefer to not eat alone, please inform them about The Shepherd's Table or better yet bring them by and join.

More information about volunteering or donating to the Shepherd's Table may be obtained by calling The First Presbyterian Church of Huntingdon at (731) 986-5642. If no answer, please leave a message, someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

The next supper has already been planned for November 20, the third Tuesday of the month, at the First Presbyterian Church Of Huntingdon.
