Urgent Care Center Opens at McKenzie Medical

McKENZIE (October 1) McKenzie Medical Center opened its extended-hours urgent care center on October 1. It is located at 205 Hospital Drive.

Operating hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

MMC decided to operate on extended hours after McKenzie Regional Hospital closed and left the city with no after-hour or weekend medical services.

The clinic is not an emergency room, however medical personnel can treat many non-emergency ailments, including abdominal pain, allergic reactions, animal and insect bites, asthma attacks, minor burns, colds, coughs, flu, dehydration, diarrhea, ear and eye infections, fever, fractures (minor), headaches, heat exhaustion, scrapes and cuts, sinus infections, skin infections, sore throat, sprains and strains,, sports injuries, stitches, urinary tract infections, and vomiting are a few of the suggested items for treatment.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening is Wednesday, October 24, 10 a.m.
