War Eagles Sweep Tigers in Home-Away Pair

ATWOOD/BRUCETON (April 1-2) — The West Carroll War Eagles and Hollow-Rock Bruceton Central Tigers played a pair of District 11A baseball contests last week. The War Eagles scored in all but two innings over the two-day series for a decisive sweep.
Monday, West Carroll hosted and took a 14-4 victory. Tuesday at Central High School, the War Eagles pulled away early for a 24-10 win.
West Carroll War Eagles 14, Central Tigers 4
Central struck first with a run in the top of the first, but West Carroll took the lead with five in the home half. The Tigers added a run in the second, and the War Eagles plated three in the third. Central scored one in the fourth, and West Carroll answered with four in the bottom. Each team scored once in the fifth, and one War Eagle run in the sixth ended the game early.
War Eagle P.J. Winberry was 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run scored. Parker McAfee was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Wyatt Baker was 1-for-2 with a double, two walks, two RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base. Curt Foster was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Zach Heckert was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Tyson Keymon was 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored. Jaxson Hames was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored. Devin Nash was 0-for-3 with two runs scored.
Tiger Gage Lowry was 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and a stolen base. Mac Hooten was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base. Malik Mathis was 1-for-3. Reece Patterson was 0-for-0 with three walks and a run scored. Zane Mebane was 0-for-1 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored. Conner Gaia was 0-for-1 with two walks.
Curt Foster earned the win for West Carroll, allowing four runs (two earned) on three hits while striking out four and walking five in four innings. Devin Nash pitched the final two frames, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out two and walking two.

Conner Gaia took the loss for Central, allowing eight unearned runs on five hits while striking out three and walking two in three innings. Brayden Frye threw the final two and a third innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on eight hits while striking out one and walking two.
War Eagles 24, Tigers 10
West Carroll struck first with five runs in the top of the first, then Central scored a run in the home half. The War Eagles scored five again in both the second and third innings. The Tigers mounted a rally in the bottom half of the third for six runs. Each team added a run in the fifth, then West Carroll pulled away with eight in the sixth. Two Central runs in the home half weren’t enough to force a seventh inning.
War Eagle Devin Nash was 1-for-4 with a home run, a walk, an RBI and a run scored. Jaxson Hames was 3-for-4 with three doubles, a walk, two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. Zach Heckert was 3-for-5 with a double, a walk, five RBIs and four stolen bases. P.J. Winberry was 1-for-2 with a double, three walks, three RBIs and three runs scored. Tyson Keymon was 2-for-5 with two RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base. Wyatt Baker was 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and three runs scored. Parker McAfee was 1-for-1 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored. Antonio Williams was 1-for-5 with a walk and two RBIs. Curt Foster was 0-for-3 with three walks, two runs scored and a stolen base. Austin Craig was 0-for-1 with two walks and two runs scored. Dalton Williams was 0-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and a stolen base. Gage Lowry was 0-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and two stolen bases.
Jaxson Hames earned the win for West Carroll, allowing seven runs (two earned) on eight hits while striking out three and walking four in four innings. P.J. Winberry threw the final two frames, allowing three earned runs on no hits while striking out three and walking five.
Thomas Crews took the loss for Central, allowing ten runs (nine earned) on nine hits while striking out one and walking three in two innings. Brennen Hollingsworth pitched a third of an inning, allowing five earned runs on one hit while striking out one and walking four. Zane Mebane threw two and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs (one earned) on one hit while striking out two and walking five. Malik Mathis pitched the final frame, allowing four runs (one earned) on two hits while striking out three and walking two.
