ATWOOD (December 11) — West Carroll High School hosted Clarksburg Tuesday for a pair of District 11A hoops contest. The Lady Rockets kept it close in the first half, but the Lady War Eagles pulled away after the break for a 47-31 win. The War Eagles coasted to a 73-32 victory in the nightcap.

The opening frame was an 8-8 wash. Lady Rocket Ashlyn Yarbrough led the scoring with five points, including a three-pointer. Sarah Derryberry also hit a three. Lady War Eagles Alyssa Butler and Tatym Keymon each scored three points, and Macey Cunningham had a pair.
West Carroll took a narrow lead in the second quarter, outscoring Clarksburg 9-6. Butler led with five points, including a three-pointer. Keymon and Katie Holt each had a pair. Lady Rocket Macy Ward scored three points, and Derryberry, Yarbrough and Makiya Abdallah each hit a free throw. At the half, the Lady War Eagles led 17-14.
The Lady War Eagles pulled away in the third with a 17-5 advantage, led by Butler with eight points. M. Cunningham scored five, and Gracie Cunningham had four. Derryberry and Yarbrough each added a pair for Clarksburg, and Jasmin Bailey hit a free throw. Entering the final frame, West Carroll led 34-19.
West Carroll capped the win with a 13-12 edge in the fourth, led by M. Cunningham with nine points, including a three. Butler scored four. Yarbrough led the Lady Rockets with five points, and Brooklyn Williams scored four. Abdallah, Sami Roney and Grace Bartholomew each hit a free throw.
Lady War Eagle Alyssa Butler led all scorers with 20 points, including a three-pointer. Macey Cunningham scored 16, also with a three.
