Wildcats Win Third in a Row over Seahawks

MCKENZIE (September 14) — The Bethel Wildcats won their third straight game with a 52-7 victory over the Keiser University Seahawks Saturday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium. Bethel (3-0) handed Keiser (2-1) their first loss of the year.
The No. 19 ranked Wildcats wasted no time in taking control of the game against the visiting Seahawks. A 31-yard touchdown pass from Sam Castronova to Dominic Moore at the 9:58 mark of the first quarter gave the Cats a 6-0 lead. Dalton’s McCann’s point after made it 7-0.
The Cats would take a 14-0 lead when Castronova struck again finding Devante Jimenez on a one –yard pass with 3:51 left in the period.
A dazzling punt return by J’Kobe Reddick from 68 yards out gave Bethel a 21-0 margin at the 13:50 mark of the second quarter.
On the ensuing kick-off Keiser failed to field the kick and Bethel’s Senturian Dureaux recovered the ball at the Seahawk 24 yard line.
Bethel took advantage of the Keiser mistake and scored a few plays later on a Taye Davis three-yard run making it 28-0 with 12 minutes left in the first half.
The Wildcats were not through as they scored with 3:52 left in the half when Castronova found Davius Prather in the corner of the end zone for another score. Prather made a leaping catch to haul in the 19-yard pass.
The Hawks finally moved the ball down the field picking up their initial first down of the game with 3:05 left in the half. Tyrese Lyons scored on a five-yard run in the last minute of the half to make it 35-7 at the break.

The Wildcats were never tested in the second half as they salted the game away as Taye Davis scored on a ten yard run at the 12:20 mark to make it 42-7.
Keiser moved the ball and appeared to be in position for another score but Bethel’s Brandon Moore picked off an Eli Matthews pass inside the Bethel five yard line.
On a punt by Bethel the Seahawks turned it over again as Bethel’s Riley Wood recovered a Hawk fumble at the Keiser 41-yard line.
With the short field the Cats capitalized again as Chris Witherspoon scored on a four yard run to give Bethel a 49-7 margin.
The final score came in the fourth quarter as Bethel kicker Chandler Street nailed a 45-yard field goal for the final score of 52-7.
The Wildcats outgained Keiser 447-173 in total offense. They had 23 first downs to Keiser’s nine. Bethel rushed for 211 yards and finished with 236 passing yards.
Jeremy Johnson led Bethel with 10 tackles.
Bethel hits the road Saturday traveling to Lakeland, Florida to meet Southeastern University. It will be the first of three straight road games for the Wildcats. After Southeastern the Wildcats visit Georgetown and Campbellsville before returning home October 13 to host Kentucky Christian.
Kick-off at Southeastern is scheduled for 3:30p.m. CST.
